Texas Faces Great Challenges

Illegal Immigration
“We cannot wait for the Federal government. I will push
for legislation to stop the flow of illegal immigration that is
draining our state's social services. I will also support the
voter photo identification requirement which sadly failed
last session.”

Lasting Property Tax Reform
"I am committed to essential reforms that provide protection
against appraisal creep. We must remember that the
money belongs to the taxpayer."

Infringment of Private Property Rights
“Eminent Domain should only be used when necessary
for public infrastructure. I am committed to supporting
legislation that will protect this bedrock of the American
dream."

Improving Transportation
“Roads are one of the bread and butter functions of state government and another issue crying out for a return to sound budget priorities. Since highways are an essential state function, other less critical discretionary expenditures should be trimmed in order to free up funding for needed infrastructure. Revenue collected from transportation-related sources should be used to fund necessary construction and repair of transportation infrastructure, and not diverted for other uses.”

Respecting the Sanctity of Life
“The right to life is the first inalienable right enumerated by the founders. They did this for good reason since life is given by God and there are only very stringently limited circumstances where men may lawfully take away a life. In all other cases, government has a moral and ethical obligation to protect and preserve human life. This protection cannot be justly withheld from the unborn, the profoundly disabled, or the aged.”

Stopping the Growth of Government
“Those who wish to grow government talk of expanded and expansive taxes. We need to get control of big government rather than find new ways to sustain its growth.”

Improving Education
“The problem is not a lack of funding but a lack of performance for the money spent. Raising taxes masks the problem and fails to address core issues such as improving the character of the young and instilling the love of learning. We must promote the principle that parental involvement is the single most important element in ensuring a successful education. Furthermore, parents must be the ultimate authority on what is best for their children – not bureaucrats in Austin. Finally, we must ensure that more children learn the basics and insist on improving standards. As one who works as an engineer for a major defense firm in the district, I can attest to the urgency of preparing our kids to better compete in a global economy.”

Supporting Traditional Values
“Since ancient times, the family has been defined as a man and a woman united in marriage along with any children issuing from the union. Marriage and family are fundamental units of civilization that predate all other forms of human government and society.”

Preserving Our Second Amendment Freedoms
“I am absolutely committed to the right to keep and bear arms, and will oppose any effort to infringe on the freedoms of law-abiding citizens.”
